The AARP Bulletin asked each of the major presidential candidates for an interview to pose key questions about issues important to AARP members and their families. These included Social Security, the Medicare Modernization Act and the future of Medicare, prescription drug prices, retiree health benefits, covering the uninsured, long-term care, older people in debt and uniting the nation.
The president was not available to be interviewed in person by the AARP Bulletin but provided the answers to written questions.
Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., sat down with AARP Bulletin reporters following a town-hall-style event in Affton, Mo., a suburb of St. Louis, on Sept. 10, 2004.
