HAMILTON CO. -- The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County is making it a little easier for people to apply for services from the county's Department of Job and Family Services.

The library's 41 branches are now drop-off points for documents that are required to receive services. That means instead of putting sensitive paperwork such as Social Security cards, birth certificates, passports, marriage licenses or divorce decrees in the mail, or physically taking them to the agency downtown, people can simply take the documents to the library.

Library employees will fax the documents to the agency's main office. The partnership's goal is to save clients time and gas money and avoid the fear about putting personal documents in the mail.

The agency has also opened satellite offices at neighborhood social service agencies and health care centers in an effort to be more accessible.
