Yeager's will have teams for players 50 and over, 55 and over and 60 and over, according to Terry Torgerson, one of the event organizers and a Yeager's player.

There will also be a bracket for teams with players 65 and over, Torgerson said. Round-robin play begins Saturday, Sept. 6, at 8 a.m.; teams will be grouped for play Sunday based on they do on Saturday.

Teams from Kelowna, B.C., Seattle, Bremerton, Tacoma and elsewhere will be competing, Torgerson said. There will be a break in the tournament to honor Frank Uhrig, owner of Yeager's who has sponsored softball teams for 25 years.

JORGENSEN FIRST AT PRO-AM

Chris Jorgensen of Sealinks Golf Course on Birch Bay took first place Aug. 21 in the 2nd Annual Windermere Pro-Am Golf Classic played at Bellingham Golf and Country Club.

The tournament was sponsored by St. Joseph Hospital Foundation and Whatcom Hospice Foundation. With more golf teams than ever before, the foundations were able to gross over $110,000.

The funds raised enable Whatcom Hospice to offer services to terminally ill patients and their families above and beyond those paid for by Medicare and other insurers. The funds also support the hospital's foundation's programs that support Charity Care, the Center for Senior Health, Adult Day Health, health care for underprivileged infants and children, the purchase of new technology, updated medical equipment and much more.
