Oct. 2, 2008 (McClatchy-Tribune Regional News delivered by Newstex) -- LAS CRUCES -- If you do not usually file income taxes, you need to do so to ensure that you get a tax rebate. That is why, on Wednesday, the state of New Mexico will have more than 100 tax preparers at locations throughout the state to help you file your 2007 state income tax return if you have not done so already.
Of the more than 70 locations where help will be available, there will be three locations in Las Cruces, two in Truth or Consequences and one each in Anthony, Deming and Silver City.
Unless otherwise noted, all locations will offer assistance between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
In Las Cruces, you can go to the Tax and Revenue Department office at 2540 El Paseo Road or the Veterans Services Field Office at 2024 E. Griggs Ave. You can also go to the Community Action Agency at 320 E. Wyatt Drive, but must make appointments first by calling (575) 527-8799.
In Anthony and Deming, you can go to the Children, Youth and Families Department field offices at 945 Anthony Drive and 918 E. Pear St., respectively. In Truth or Consequences, help will be available at the CYFD office at 161 New School Road and the Senior Center at 360 W. 4th St. In Silver City, preparers will be on hand at the Motor Vehicle Division office at 1876
Highway 180 East.
If you want tax preparation assistance, you should bring your Social Security number, dependents' Social Security numbers, W2 forms, 1099s, if any, and property tax bills, if you are older than 65.
