The speakers explain how to use the state's new "security freeze" law and offer tips on what documents to shred. Parenting a second time around — A free community forum for grandparents raising grandchildren will take place in Albuquerque on April 25. Cosponsored by AARP New Mexico, the event will address such topics as how to enroll a child in school, where to find help with grocery and heating bills, and the legal rights of grandparents (or other kin caregivers).

"Often a relative will find herself suddenly responsible for a child due to some type of family emergency," says Stan Cooper, AARP state director. "Becoming a caregiver unexpectedly can be overwhelming."
