GILBERTSVILLE, Ky. -- Graveside services for Gerald Fuqua, 61, of Gilbertsville will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2008, at Maplewood Cemetery in Mayfield with the Rev. Gary Cruse officiating.
Mr. Fuqua died at 9:04 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at Murray-Calloway County Hospital.
He was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.
Surviving are three brothers, Lewis Fuqua of Kevil, Donald Fuqua of Detroit and Paul Fuqua of Seattle; one sister, Peggy Jones of Paducah; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Vaughn and Celestia Skidmore. His parents were W.L. and Ruby Fuqua.

Services for Liz E. "Tonie" Jones, 68, of Paducah will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member and served on the culinary committee. The Revs. Edward Ballard and Raynarldo Henderson will officiate. Burial will be at Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Jones died at 7:20 a.m. Saturday at her home.
She was formerly employed by Triangle Enterprises.
Surviving are one daughter, Dorothy Johnson of Paducah; four sons, Charles C. Riley of San Diego, Allen Riley of Dayton, Ohio, Richard Jones of Paducah, and Rodney Jones of Chicago; one stepson, Gower Marshall of Paducah; two brothers, James Campbell of Boston and Kenneth Campbell of Tacoma, Wash.; seven sisters, Earline Campbell, Dorothy Campbell, Ida Bea Campbell, Minnie Lee Campbell, Mary Campbell, Gail Campbell and Estella Campbell, all of Boston; seven grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walker G. Jones, and one brother. Her parents were Henry Campbell and Mattie Mae Watson Campbell.

Services for LaVerne Imojean "Jean" Neblett, 68, of Paducah will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with the Rev. F. Wayne Carter officiating. Burial will be at Provine Cemetery in Marshall County.
Mrs. Neblett died at 4:50 a.m. Tuesday at Western Baptist Hospital.
A native of Bono, Ark., she formerly worked in the dietary department at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis and was of the Pentecostal faith.
Surviving are one daughter, Renee Neblett Runkle of Paducah; one son, Byron Neblett of Paducah; three sisters, Frances Neblett of Jonesboro, Ark., Marsha Harris of Georgia, and Frieda Stout of Oklahoma; two brothers, Charles Millsaps of California and Richard Millsaps of Bono; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Lisa Neblett; one son, Terry Allen Birmingham; and one brother. Her parents were Elmer and Ruby Gibson Millsaps.

METROPOLIS, Ill. -- Mrs. Phyllis W. Sullivan, age 74, of Metropolis, passed away at 4:26 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at Lourdes hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2008, at First United Methodist Church in Metropolis. Rev. Earl Black and Rev. Gary Motta will officiate. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Sullivan was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Metropolis where she was a member of Fidelis Sunday School Class. She was formerly employed at the Metropolis First United Methodist Church as secretary. She was Vice President of the Massac County Historical Society, a member of the Metropolis Garden Club, American Heritage Homemakers, Massac Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Southern Illinois Genealogical Society, a registered member of the Massac County Girl Scouts, the Outreach Chair for the Massac County Homemakers Council, and Christian Women's Fellowship.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Don Sullivan of Metropolis, IL.; daughter, Kelley Sullivan of Metropolis, IL.; sister, Linda Ramsey and husband Lyndell of Metropolis, IL; four nephews; and one niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Stewart and Evelyn Estelle Heflin Wells.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2008, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Metropolis.

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Keith Harlin Denson, age 75, of Columbia, MO, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at 4:04 a.m. at the Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, MO. Keith was born in Hamletsburg, IL.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 22, 2008, at 10 a.m. at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home; burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
Dr. Denson was the only child of the late Reverend Roosevelt and Mabel Denson of Brookport, IL.
He is survived by two daughters, Kefe Durham, and husband James, and Leslie Provencher, and husband William; two granddaughters, Amy Simon and Sarah Provencher; two great-granddaughters, Audrey and Alyssa Williams, all of Columbia, MO.
Keith graduated from the Brookport High School in Brookport, IL, and received his B.S. degree in civil engineering at Washington University in St. Louis, MO, in 1952. He earned his Master's degree at Mississippi State University in 1960 and later a Ph.D. in civil engineering at the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO in 1968. Dr. Denson retired as a full professor of civil engineering from Mississippi State University in 1992 after 33 years of service and was granted the status of Professor Emeritus of civil engineering. In addition to his university positions, Dr. Denson has 13 years of active reserve service and 4 years of active service as a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy.
American Legion and V.F.W. will conduct military graveside rites.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Charles E. Hook, 59, sculptor and professor of art at Florida State University, died of cancer on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 2008, at his home in Wakulla County, Florida. Charles Hook was born Oct. 9, 1948, in Paducah, Ky., to Evelyn A. and Harold S. Hook. He graduated from Heath High School in Paducah, studied architecture and sculpture at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, and received his Master of Fine Arts in sculpture from Washington University in St. Louis. He taught sculpture at Heron School of Art in Indianapolis and was an assistant professor at the University of Kansas in Wichita. Charles came to FSU in 1980. He was known internationally for his cast-iron program at FSU, and took that knowledge abroad with workshops in places such as Wales, Peru and Bosnia. He was known for creating large-scale outdoor sculptures for more than 30 years. He is currently exhibiting a large outdoor sculpture near the marina in Ft. Pierce, Fla. Charles' work can be seen in Tallahassee at the Premier Health and Fitness Center, at the Data Center in Innovation Park, on the campus of TCC, and in the Sculpture Garden at Railroad Square which was recently dedicated the Charles Hook Sculpture Garden at Railroad Square.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah La Grasse (who is also a sculptor and teaches in the School of Architecture at FAMU); his two daughters, Julia Hook of New York and Cayce Hook of Tallahassee; his mother, Evelyn Hook, and brother, Alan Hook (Mary), both of Paducah, Ky.; two sisters, Wilma Romatz (Dave) of Saginaw, Mich., and Sherri Mason of Columbus, Tenn.; and his mother-in-law, Helen La Grasse of Tallahassee. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Hook, Paducah, Ky., and his father-in-law, Frank J. La Grasse of Gainesville, Fla.
The family will have a Remembrance for family and friends of Charles beside the water garden of TD and Kathi Giddings in Wakulla County on Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008, at 4 p.m. A public memorial for Charles Hook will take place in October 2008 with a retrospective solo exhibition at The 621 Gallery, in Railroad Square, Tallahassee. Charles Hook was instrumental in the creation of the 621 Gallery and the Sculpture Garden.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the 621 Gallery Sculpture Garden or Big Bend Hospice in honor of Charles Hook.

METROPOLIS, Ill. -- Funeral services for Pauline Sielbeck, age 93, of Metropolis will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2008, at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Buchanan and David Keyes officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillerman Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Sielbeck passed away at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at the Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis.
She was a homemaker and a life member of the Hillerman Baptist Church, until she moved and joined the First Baptist Church in Metropolis.
Pauline is survived by two daughters, Carol Miller of Arlington Heights, Ill., and Betty Anne Brewer and husband, Robert, of Metropolis; one daughter-in-law, Marlene Sielbeck of Grand Chain; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two nephews; and one niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel E. and Sarah E. (Burris) Culver; her husband, Raymond; one son, Jerry; one son-in-law, Vern Miller; one grandchild, Marla Kristen Sielbeck; two sisters, Tressa Davis and Ellen Sheridan; and one brother, Olin Burris.

Mrs. Matthews died at 12:20 p.m. Monday at Lourdes hospital.
She was a member of Johnson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member and treasurer of the church choir. She was a former employee of Tyson Foods. (NYSE:TSN)

She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Her parents were L.B. Wilson and Lucy Lee Jones.

Mr. Kesler died at 7:01 p.m. Tuesday at Manorcare in Peoria.
A native of Ullin, he was a retired machinist for the Caterpillar Company in Peoria after 30 years and a member of Local No. 974. Mr. Kesler was a member of Ullin Pentecostal Church.
Surviving are one foster son, Robert J. Ellis of Peoria; two foster daughters, Charlotte Church of Creve Coeur and Rose Farris of East Peoria; four grandchildren, Jason Ellis, Jacob Ellis, Andrew Ellis and Christopher Emmons; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maggie N. Kerley Kesler; one brother; and four sisters. His parents were Turner Kesler and Lucy George Kesler.

She is survived by three daughters, Rachel Arnold of Vienna, Barbara Winders of Golconda and Catherine Turner of Elizabethtown; six sons, Billy Green of Golconda, Harold Green of Rosiclare, Elisha Green of Golconda, Ray Green of Louisville, Ralph Green of Cave-in-Rock and Jerry Green of Brookport; one half-sister, Bonnie Belt of Jefferson, Ind.; 25 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Green; one son, Charles Green; one grandson, Christopher Green; two brothers; and one sister. Her parents were Clinton and Elizabeth Thompson Belt.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Gospel Mission Tabernacle Church in Golconda. The Revs. Billy Green and Harold Green will officiate, with burial in IOOF Cemetery in Golconda.

His parents were Oscar Walker and Frances Mae Smith Walker Bateman.
