Street smarts — AARP is urging lawmakers to adopt a "Complete Streets" transportation policy, which would make the state's roads safe and accessible for people who bike, walk or use public transportation, as well as those who drive.
AARP Indiana has lobbied state, county and local governments to install sidewalks, bike lanes, special bus lanes, comfortable and accessible public transportation stops, safe crosswalks and more. AARP volunteers have conducted pedestrian safety audits and plan to attend transportation hearings in their communities.
